Father George V. Brendemann, a onetime executive for the Boy Scouts of America, sexually abused at least 15 boys before becoming a priest, and at least eight after. The Diocese of Pheonix knew of past allegations prior to Father George's ordination. The Diocese admitted there were several letters in Bredemann's file recommending he not become a priest. Nuns at St. Teresa's Parish also recommended Bredemann not be ordained.

Father George V. Brendemann, however, was ordained in 1983. He died in prison in 2012.
