In 2001, Father Karl LeClaire, a member of the Salvatorian religious order, was placed on leave. In 2002, Father LeClaire had a lawsuit filed against him for sexually abusing a minor for seven years. LeClaire would take boy with him on trips and cruises to Alaska and Mediterranean. He was criminally indicted for abusing children in 2003 and pled guilty in 2005. Finally, a victim of LeClaire settled their legal claim for $40,000 in 2006.
