Summary of Sexual Abuse allegations against Father Joseph E. Shannon:
Father Joseph E. Shannon has been accused of sexually abusing at least four minor boys, all beginning when they were 12-13 years old. One victim claims the abuse lasted for 15 years, until he was 27 years old. That victim filed a civil suit against Shannon, which settled for $100,000. Shannon’s other known victims were part of the 1994 class action lawsuit which settled in 2003. Shannon was permanently suspended from ministry in 1990 and died in 2013.
Father Shannon was ordained in 1961 and is deceased.
