Anna Marie Crocker, an educational assistant at Riverview Elementary in Silver Lake, Wisconsin, is serving 50 years in prison for horrendous acts of abuse against the very students she was supposed to protect. Our first blog covered her original charges of sexual abuse against a 12-year-old student and a 14-year-old student.  Now serving a 50-year sentence, survivors should know that they are not alone.  They have legal options to help them find justice and reclaim their voices.

Allegations Against Anna Marie Crocker

These actions by Crocker are horrifying. As an educational assistant, she held a critical role in these children’s lives, a role that came with immense trust and responsibility. But these convictions prove that she shattered that trust, harming innocent young lives in unimaginable ways. She is serving time for:

  • First-degree child sexual assault (targeting a child under the age of 13),
  • Possession of child pornography and
  • Sexual exploitation of a child (for allegedly filming explicit material).

These convictions paint a disturbing picture, especially considering the potential involvement of a trusted school employee in such exploitation. The impacts of such abuse are profound and often long-lasting, but victims do not have to navigate this pain alone. Support is available, and legal options exist to help survivors find justice and healing.

How a Civil Lawsuit Can Help Survivors Seek Justice and Begin to Heal

For those who have been through trauma at the hands of someone they trusted, finding a path to justice can be an essential step toward healing. Civil lawsuits play a powerful role: they hold both perpetrators and any enabling institutions accountable, address the harm done, and pave the way for real change. Survivors of abuse deserve the opportunity to seek compensation for the damage caused by their trauma, compensation that can cover therapy, medical expenses, and other essential resources for recovery.

Beyond individual support, civil lawsuits contribute to a larger conversation on abuse prevention. They raise public awareness about abuse, shatter silence, and encourage others to come forward. By pursuing legal action, survivors add their voices to a collective demand for accountability and safety, challenging the structures that allowed such abuse to happen.

Is it Possible to Hold the School Accountable?

Yes. Survivors and their families can pursue a lawsuit against the institutions responsible. Schools are responsible for safeguarding students and must be held accountable when they fail in this critical duty. If a school’s negligence enabled this abuse, a civil lawsuit could help victims seek justice and encourage schools to create safer environments for every child.

At Andreozzi + Foote, we understand the courage to come forward. We’ve worked with countless survivors, guiding them through the legal process and standing with them every step of the way. Survivors deserve justice and the chance to heal, and we are committed to helping them get there.

Cases such as Anna Marie Crocker’s serve as a reminder of the need for constant vigilance in our schools to protect children from abuse. If you or someone you know has been affected by this case, know that help is available. Seeking justice is a powerful, healing step. Andreozzi + Foote is here to support survivors through every part of the process.
