Doctors occupy one of society’s most trusted roles, bound by ethics to safeguard the patients who rely on their expertise and care.
Yet Sarasota authorities say Dr. Stephen Feig shattered that trust, turning what should have been healing sessions into sexual abuse.
Brain Wave Center Doctor Faces Charges
On April 18, 2025, Sarasota police arrested osteopathic physician Dr. Stephen Feig, the 66‑year‑old medical director of the Brain Wave Center, after two former patients reported that Feig sexually abused them during treatment.
Located at 640 S. Washington Blvd., Suite 150, Sarasota, FL, the Brain Wave Center markets “non‑drug” mental health services such as qEEG brain‑mapping, neurofeedback therapy, EMDR, and other holistic treatments for PTSD, autism, anxiety, depression, ADHD, concussions, emotional trauma, traumatic brain injury, sleep disorders, and more.
Police Seek More Survivors
One survivor says Feig persuaded her to meet him outside the center and at times in his Hillview apartment under the pretense of performing trauma therapy. According to court documents, their first session began with the woman disclosing that she had been raped in high school. Feig then instructed her to repeat, over and over, that she “could trust Dr. Feig” and that she was safe. He told her they would need to form an intimate relationship and, according to WLFA, “reenact past sexual trauma” to facilitate her healing.
What followed, she says, was not treatment, but sexual abuse.
According to Fox13News, “The victim told Sarasota police that Feig had used the treatment on other women.”
A second patient recalls Feig sexually abusing her during what should have been a routine blood pressure check in December 2023.
Feig has been terminated from his role at Brain Wave Center and faces sexual battery charges.
Authorities believe additional patients may have been harmed and urge anyone with information to contact Detective Angela Cox at 941‑263‑6075 or email angela.cox@sarasotafl.gov.
