In late 2024, Andreozzi + Foote filed a series of lawsuits alleging former Crossroads Treatment Center program director Roderick Branscomb sexually abused at least eight female patients at the LaGrange, Georgia, facility. Crossroads Treatment Center provides services to people recovering from opioid use disorder—an extremely vulnerable population that needs extra safeguarding in recovery.
Unfortunately, there is a known pattern of health care sexual abuse and exploitation in opioid treatment programs. The lawsuits allege that Crossroads should have done more to protect patients from Branscomb, who is also facing more than 20 criminal charges.
“Our clients turned to Crossroads in a time of profound vulnerability, seeking treatment and support. Instead, they encountered Roderick Branscomb—a predator employed by Crossroads—who exploited their trust and caused further harm. This lawsuit is about accountability. It’s about ensuring that no woman, especially those courageously seeking help for addiction, is ever subjected to this kind of abuse again.”

Legal Strategy From Andreozzi + Foote
Andreozzi + Foote Partner Nathaniel Foote is co-counsel in the current civil litigation against Roderick Branscomb and Crossroads Treatment Center. He is a dedicated advocate for survivors of sexual abuse, especially when an institution like a health care facility enabled that abuse.
The following are his main legal theories for the cases against Branscomb and Crossroads:
- Negligence: Crossroads was negligent in hiring and failing to supervise Branscomb for the two and a half years he worked there.
- Vicarious liability: Crossroads is vicariously liable for the conduct of its former employee.
- Punitive damages: The court should award punitive damages to victims to deter Crossroads from acting negligently in the future.
As a partner at Andreozzi + Foote, Nathaniel has recovered hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for survivors of sexual abuse. Nathaniel and the firm are dedicated to holding institutions accountable for the harm they have enabled.

Who is Roderick Branscomb and Crossroads Treatment Center?
Roderick Branscomb served as the program director for Crossroads Treatment Center’s LaGrange, Georgia, location from April 2021 through November 2023. He is now facing criminal charges and civil actions filed by female patients who allege he sexually abused them while providing their substance abuse treatment. Over the course of his employment, Branscomb allegedly engaged in sexual misconduct with at least eight female patients who sought treatment from the clinic.
Crossroads is a methadone treatment clinic that serves those struggling with opioid use disorder. Methadone reduces withdrawal symptoms and curbs cravings for people with opioid use disorder, making it a life-saving treatment for people struggling with addiction. Crossroads operates three centers in areas of Georgia with the highest overdose rates. Thus, when Branscomb threatened to withhold treatment from vulnerable patients unless they complied with his sexual demands, those victims’ lives were on the line.

Details of the Allegations
Roderick Branscomb Criminal Charges
In late 2024, Roderick Branscomb, 49, of Columbus, Georgia, was indicted in Troup County on 21 total counts related to his alleged sexual abuse of patients at Crossroads Treatment Center in LaGrange. Branscomb faces nine counts of improper sexual contact by an employee in the first degree, four counts of improper sexual contact by an employee in the second degree, four counts of sexual battery, one count of simple battery, and three counts of pandering.
Branscomb was removed from his position at Crossroads in late 2023. Branscomb is currently being held in custody after violating the terms of his bond in November 2024. His trial date has not yet been set.
Roderick Branscomb & Crossroads Treatment Center Civil Lawsuits
In October 2024, several women filed a joint lawsuit against Crossroads Treatment Center and Roderick Branscomb, accusing him of sexual harassment and abuse. According to the lawsuit, the women sought drug addiction treatment at Crossroads. Branscomb allegedly coerced them to perform sexual acts, even threatening expulsion from the treatment program if they did not comply.
The lawsuits filed against Roderick Branscomb and Crossroad Treatment Center allege that Crossroads was negligent in hiring and supervising Branscomb during his time at the facility between 2021 and 2023. According to the suits, Branscomb faced charges of sexually abusing a student as a substitute teacher at an Atlanta high school in 2007. The plaintiffs assert that this should have been enough to disqualify his candidacy at Crossroads.
Institutional Failings at Crossroads
The accusations of sexual misconduct at Crossroads Treatment Center are not the first of their kind. Nationwide, many other methadone providers have been charged with crimes or sued for taking advantage of opioid-addicted patients. Because this is a widespread issue, Crossroads should have known about the possibility of abuse and done more to supervise and vet Branscomb.
Despite operating over 100 treatment centers across nine states, Crossroads provides no information on patient safety protocols, hiring practices, or ways for patients to file complaints on its website. Meanwhile, Crossroads has responded to Branscomb’s criminal indictment with a statement emphasizing its commitment to patient safety and care.
Why This Case Matters!
- Sets precedent for holding treatment centers accountable
- Advocates for stronger safeguards in rehab settings
- Encourages survivors to step forward
Do I Have A Legal Case?
You may have a legal case against Roderick Branscomb, Crossroads Treatment Center, or another provider if you experienced sexual abuse or harassment at a Crossroads facility. Crossroads has treatment centers across the country, and the abuse you experienced does not have to be specific to Branscomb or the LaGrange facility for you to have a valid case. You may have a claim even if the perpetrator of your abuse is no longer alive, or if they were never charged with or convicted of a crime.
Civil cases are separate from criminal proceedings, so even if a perpetrator of abuse does not face criminal penalties, they may still be held accountable in civil court. Civil cases also focus on holding institutions liable for damages, not just individual perpetrators. If you experienced health care sexual abuse at Crossroads, take time to explore your legal options for pursuing justice.
