When working with victims of sexual abuse, I think one of the key parts of communication is approaching any and all communication from a compassionate standpoint. I also think that the nature of this practice area can make it really hard for clients to get answers for their legal problems because sometimes sexual abuse cases can be kind of complex and not just like how they’re litigated, but what laws and legislation apply. I think being clear and giving them realistic expectations of the possible avenues that the case can go, if there even is a case, is a really big part of what we do because we absolutely don’t want to give false hope to clients. We want to be realistic as possible with their cases and at the same time also be very compassionate in how we deliver that information to the clients.
