Former chiropractor Joshua Aaron Gomez, 43, is facing sexual assault charges in both Harris and Hidalgo counties.

He has not been permitted to practice in Texas since the surrender of his license in 2019. According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, he “was allegedly performing unlicensed procedures.” Harris County Sheriffs have “identified 11 other survivors with varying complaints about Gomez.”

They believe there may be more victims who have yet to come forward.

Harris County – December 2023 Incident

Gomez was arrested on August 6, 2025, and charged with one count of sexual assault in Harris County. The arrest stemmed from an alleged December 2023 assault during a woman’s third visit to One Life Chiropractic in Katy, Texas.

The survivor, who had recently given birth, “purchased a treatment package from Gomez for Pubic misalignment at the clinic.” (Click 2 Houston)

After several sessions, she told clinic staff the treatments weren’t helping. Gomez then took her into a private office, closed the door, and said he would try something different to address her pain.

Gomez allegedly used a Graston tool (a stainless steel instrument commonly used in chiropractic care to break down scar tissue and improve soft-tissue mobility) on her lower back and abdomen before sexually assaulting her.

According to court documents, the woman reported that Gomez told her, “This is where it gets spicy.” When asked why she had a “‘weird’” look on her face, the patient told Gomez that “she was uncomfortable.”

The patient later told investigators she was experiencing postpartum depression and believes Gomez exploited that.

License History

The patient told her husband what had happened. They then filed a complaint with the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners. She was informed that Gomez had previously faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct with other women.

The board confirmed that Gomez surrendered his license in 2019 amid these allegations. (Click 2 Houston) It is unclear whether he was ever criminally charged in connection with those earlier incidents. He has not been licensed to practice chiropractic care in Texas since.

Gomez also has an inactive chiropractic license in Florida.

One Life Chiropractic’s Response

Nathan Gomez, Joshua’s brother and the lead chiropractor/owner of One Life Chiropractic, refunded the patient and extended an offer for free services.

He told detectives he did not know the details regarding his brother’s license surrender.  According to Click 2 Houston, Gomez “was only responsible for paperwork and managerial duties. He was not authorized to treat or touch patients.”

Hidalgo County – April 2025 Allegation

The Harris County arrest came less than two months after Gomez was booked in Hidalgo County for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in April 2025. That survivor said she had worked with Gomez in Texas previously and alleged that he drugged and raped her.

In an interview with FOX 26, the woman said, “‘Joshua Gomez raped me… I was drugged and raped. I woke up, he was still on me, and he violated my body.’”

She underwent a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) examination and later relocated for safety reasons. Her message to other survivors is to “take their power back.” (FOX 26)

Gomez was booked in jail on June 25, 2025, in connection with this assault. He was released the same day after posting a $10,000 bond.

Law Enforcement Seeks Additional Survivors

“Records show Gomez posted his $50,000 bond for the Harris County offense on Aug. 8.” (FOX 26)

Harris County Sheriffs believe there may be additional victims. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted Gomez’s booking photo on social media, urging anyone with information to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Division at 713-274-9370 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

Survivors’ Rights and Potential Civil Claims

One Life Chiropractic has posted a statement on Facebook, emphasizing that they are committed to the safety of their patients. Yet the allegations tell a different story. If the clinic’s leadership allowed an unlicensed individual to have patient contact, ignored red flags, or failed to protect clients from known risks, they could face civil liability for the harm that occurred.

Because Gomez had surrendered his license years before the latest allegation, yet was still interacting with a patient, a civil attorney might closely examine whether One Life Chiropractic failed in its duty to safeguard those in its care.

Survivors of sexual assault may have the right to pursue civil legal action. Civil lawsuits can provide compensation for medical expenses, therapy, lost income, and emotional distress, while also bringing public accountability and prompting changes to prevent future abuse.
