Former physician Guy Langley Peeples, 65, is facing a rape charge after allegedly assaulting a 70-year-old patient inside her hospital room at Baptist Health Medical Center–Conway. The alleged assault occurred on November 10, 2025, and was witnessed by a hospital virtual sitter monitoring the patient through a live video feed.

Peeples was terminated from the hospital on November 11, 2025.

Allegations Against Dr. Peeples

According to the affidavit filed in Faulkner County Circuit Court, the events began on the morning of November 10, 2025. The victim had recently undergone surgery and was bedridden.

A virtual nurse assigned to monitor the patient reported seeing concerning behavior occur through the hospital’s live video feed monitoring system.

According to the affidavit, the nurse “observed Dr. Guy Peeples enter the victim’s room. Initially, [the nurse] reported nothing appeared unusual. However, she became concerned when she observed Dr. Peeples holding [the victim’s] hand unusually close to his body.”

Dr. Peeples then allegedly began sexually assaulting the victim. The nurse told investigators that she ”turned on the sound on her video and heard Mr. Guy make several inappropriate statements,” including, “‘You have to hurry up and get discharged, so the real fun can start.’”

This led the nurse to notify her supervisor. Police were contacted later that same day.

Officers interviewed the victim at Baptist Health. According to the affidavit, the victim appeared frightened and hesitant to speak at first, but later told investigators what happened, including that Dr. Peeples said, “‘Hurry up and get better so we can be together.’”

According to the affidavit, the victim was “extremely upset and in shock” when describing what happened. She said that during the assault, she asked the doctor what he was doing.

The victim told a hospital social worker that she did not understand why Dr. Peeples targeted her.

Baptist Health’s Response

On November 11, hospital leadership held an Employee Relations meeting with Dr. Peeples. During that meeting, according to the affidavit, Peeples admitted to the allegations but claimed “the sexual contact…was consensual.”

Hospital administrators terminated his employment.

Baptist Health released two public statements confirming his termination and describing the reported conduct as reprehensible.

Arrest, Bond, and Court Proceedings

On November 14, 2025, a judge issued a warrant for Peeples’ arrest on a charge of rape, a Class Y felony, the second-most serious category of felony under Arkansas law. On November 17, the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office and the Conway Police Department issued a public alert, stating that Peeples was wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force for rape. A wanted poster released that day classified him as an international flight risk.

Investigators had found a vehicle belonging to him in Mississippi, prompting them to expand the search outside Arkansas. Marshals received multiple tips about possible sightings of Peeples. Early in the morning, on November 18, Peeples’ attorney contacted investigators and said he planned to self-surrender.

On November 18, 2025, Peeples turned himself in to the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Officer and was booked on a rape charge. At his initial court appearance on November 19, a judge set his bond at $5 million and imposed strict conditions, including GPS monitoring, surrendering his passport, and remaining in Arkansas.

His next court date, a Review Hearing, is scheduled for December 8, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Faulkner County Circuit Court.

Peeples Surrenders His License

Dr. Guy Langley Peeples has been licensed to practice medicine in Arkansas since 1993. According to public records, he surrendered his Arkansas medical license on November 20, 2025, following his arrest. The Arkansas State Medical Board stated, “The physician has surrendered his Arkansas medical license effective immediately.”

This action formally ended his ability to practice medicine in the state.

February 2026 Update

As of February 3, 2026, Dr. Guy Langley Peeples has been charged in a second case involving another patient. He is facing one count of rape and three counts of second-degree sexual assault against a 38-year-old female patient.

A lawsuit has been filed by the patient against him, Baptist Health, and others. The suit alleges that prior complaints had been made against Peeples, that he was known to touch patients “weirdly,” and that he “exhibited egregious acts and grooming behaviors that would identify him as a risk to patients at Baptist.”

Civil Liability

Hospitals have a legal duty to protect their patients. When sexual abuse occurs inside a medical facility, the hospital may face civil liability for failing to keep patients safe. In this case, the abuse came to light only because the patient had been assigned a virtual sitter. This raises important questions about whether earlier warning signs were missed.

Survivors harmed in healthcare settings may have the right to pursue civil claims for emotional and physical trauma, as well as for the profound breach of trust that occurs when a provider exploits a patient. Civil litigation can also examine whether an institution’s policies, training, or supervision were inadequate to protect vulnerable patients.

If you or someone you love was harmed by Dr. Guy Langley Peeples or another healthcare professional, you are not alone. You may have the right to pursue a civil case against Baptist Health or any institution that failed to protect you.
