Dr. Agarwal’s Background and Affiliations
Dr. Agarwal operates the Comprehensive Sleep Center in Milpitas, CA, and identifies himself as the CEO of California Specialty Physicians, a multispecialty practice. He markets the Comprehensive Sleep Center as a respected and safe facility offering sleep diagnostics and treatment for a wide range of sleep disorders and respiratory diseases.
On the home page of his practice Dr. Agarwal lists his affiliations to several hospitals: Regional Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital (both part of the Good Samaritan Health System), El Camino Hospital, and O’Connor Hospital. His Doximity profile also lists his affiliation with Highland Hospital.
On his Good Samaritan Hospital profile, Dr. Agarwal states, “Patient care with compassion is number one.” He promotes a commitment to ethics and social responsibility and claims to provide empathetic professional care.
The irony is unmistakable: a doctor who marketed himself as compassionate and ethical now stands accused of sexually abusing a patient.
It is also deeply tragic, because a patient’s trust appears to have been violated. Patients come to medical professionals at their most vulnerable, expecting professional care, not exploitation.
Hospitals May Also Be Accountable
Even though the alleged incident took place at Dr. Agarwal’s office, he may have harmed other patients at the hospitals where he held privileges. In such cases, those hospitals could be held liable if they knew about misconduct or ignored warning signs.
Hospitals have a duty to vet and monitor the physicians they allow to practice. When they fail to act on complaints or overlook red flags, they can be held accountable in civil court.

Resources for Healing
The criminal justice system will determine whether Dr. Agarwal is found guilty under California law. While criminal accountability is important, it does not give survivors the resources and support they need to truly heal.
Civil lawsuits give survivors the opportunity to pursue compensation for counseling, medical expenses, and other costs tied to recovery. These actions also expose institutional failures and can drive reforms to better protect patients in the future.
