BALTIMORE, MD — September 5th, 2025 — A prominent law firm known for representing survivors of sexual abuse is speaking out after former youth pastor Thomas “Tommy” Pinkerton Jr. was indicted in Baltimore County Circuit Court on seven felony charges involving multiple victims.
Pinkerton, 52, has been involved in churches across no less than five states and has led mission trips to countries including Ukraine, Mexico, Peru, and the Philippines. It was during his years as a youth pastor in Baltimore that authorities say he abused multiple minors. The abuse is alleged to have occurred between 2006 and 2010, both at Central Christian church on Rossville Boulevard and at his home in Perry Hall.
According to investigators, the pattern of abuse began with grooming behaviors such as favoritism, hand-holding, massages, and excessive one-on-one time. Victims reported that Pinkerton referred to himself as a “spiritual father,” a role that blurred personal and spiritual boundaries. Court documents allege he coerced minors into kissing, hugging, and shirtless massages, and in some cases justified the behavior as “heavenly” or “brotherly” kisses.
“It appears that Pinkerton used his position as a youth pastor to target and exploit vulnerable children,” Ben Andreozzi, partner at Andreozzi + Foote, who is investigating the case, said.
Andreozzi added that the criminal case is only part of the story.
“While criminal charges are pending against Pinkerton, we have seen time and time again that abuse in the church environment is entirely preventable. An investigation into the church’s oversight of Pinkerton is necessary to determine if it failed to properly supervise and protect Pinkerton’s victims. If it is determined that red flags were ignored, the victims in this case may seek recourse in the civil justice system,” Andreozzi said.
In light of these developments, Andreozzi + Foote is encouraging others who may have been impacted by Thomas “Tommy” Pinkerton to come forward.
“There is strength in numbers. While one victim’s testimony might be overlooked, it is impossible to ignore a multitude of victims who are all telling the same story. It is equally important for those who observed any form of improper behavior to come forward. In addition to fulfilling a legal obligation to report suspected abuse, it will lend strength and support to the victims,” Andreozzi said.
While the criminal case is ongoing, the firm emphasizes that this is a critical time for survivors to understand their legal rights. Those harmed by religious leaders are encouraged to consult with law enforcement as well as private attorneys familiar with these cases.
