Durham police have recently charged Oscar D. Reyes, a former employee of Central Park School for Children (CPSC), with multiple child sex crimes. The arrest, which took place on January 27, has raised questions and concerns among parents whose children attended the school’s after-school program during the 2022-2023 academic year.

The investigation into Oscar D. Reyes began on November 3, 2023, when police filed a report following allegations of misconduct. Reyes, a 20-year-old part-time employee at CPSC, worked with the after-school program and has been charged with indecent liberties with a student, sexual battery, assault on a child under 12, and misdemeanor child abuse.
The school has since terminated Reyes’s employment following his arrest.
