School sexual abuse is very common. The most common perpetrator is a teacher who takes advantage of a student. Sometimes this happens in a private school, or it can happen in a public school. Cases against private schools are easier to navigate because we don’t have to deal with state tort immunity, which prohibits lawsuits against governmental organizations. In school sexual abuse cases, the school district can be held accountable for a teacher who sexually abuses a student. The teacher is under the supervision and employment of that school, who it’s incumbent that they do a background check and adequately supervise the teacher and follow up on any red flags that may have been observed in the school.
