A cardiologist practicing in rural Ohio is facing several felony criminal charges.
According to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, “On July 27, 2026 deputies from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dr. Ali Ghasemzadeh following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate sexual conduct involving patients during medical examinations.”
He has been charged with multiple felony offenses, including:
- Rape
- Sexual Battery
- Gross Sexual Imposition
Additional counts have been added since his July 27 arrest, and more charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Ghasemzadeh is currently being held in the Brown County Jail.
Authorities Seek Additional Victims
BCSO has released this statement:
“Based upon information obtained during the investigation, detectives believe there may be additional individuals who experienced inappropriate, unwanted, or unexplained sexual contact or conduct while receiving medical treatment from Dr. Ghasemzadeh.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who believes they may have been subjected to inappropriate conduct by Dr. Ghasemzadeh, or who has information relevant to this investigation, to contact the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. Individuals are encouraged to come forward regardless of how much time has passed since the incident.”

Authorities have stated that they recognize that reporting this kind of incident can be difficult, and they assured the public that “Anyone who contacts investigators will be treated with dignity, respect, and sensitivity.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
According to Ghasemzadeh’s attorney, Joe Suhre, “‘He has been a pillar of the community for decades. He’s taken care of the heart health of multiple generations of Brown County families and absolutely denies these allegations.’” (WLWT)
Court Documents Detail Allegations by Patients
The investigation into Dr. Ali Ghasemzadeh began just two weeks before his arrest.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Brown County Municipal Court, a patient reported that during a July 14, 2026 appointment, “while she was receiving medical treatment,” Ghasemzadeh “lowered her undergarment, and without her consent or a legitimate medical purpose, inserted an ultrasound probe into her vaginal opening and moved it internally for several minutes.” He later allegedly inserted a finger in her anal opening without her consent and asked questions about her sexual activity. According to the complaint, she left and “promptly reported the incident to her primary care physician, who directed her to seek a sexual-assault examination.”
A second complaint alleges that during a June 2025 echocardiogram appointment, Dr. Ghasemzadeh made sexually suggestive comments before allegedly physically grabbing and squeezing the patient’s nipple piercings. According to court documents, she reported the incident to his office the same day and shortly after informed her primary care provider, requesting a referral to a different cardiologist.
Although the criminal complaints currently involve two alleged victims, Brown County Prosecutor Zac Corbin has stated that additional potential victims have come forward since Dr. Ghasemzadeh’s arrest was announced.
