Former MSU Physician Dr. Arpit Saxena Arrested
Former Michigan State University resident physician Dr. Arpit Saxena has been arrested after criminal sexual conduct charges were issued involving allegations that he sexually assaulted two female patients during medical appointments.
Saxena, 39, faces three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the charges on September 3, 2026.
On September 10, “Following the issuance of the criminal charges, DPPS investigators, with the assistance of other law enforcement resources, successfully located the suspect in Atlanta, Georgia and he was arrested. The suspect is currently in custody and being held at the Clayton County Jail in Jonesboro, Georgia pending an extradition hearing.” (MSU)
The Allegations Against Dr. Arpit Saxena
The investigation began at approximately 6 p.m. on April 3, 2025, when Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety officers “responded to a MSU Health Care facility in the 4600 block of S. Hagadorn Rd for a sexual assault complaint.“
According to MSU, “MSU police officers and a Police Social Worker met with an adult female patient who had just left her medical appointment from inside the facility and reported that she had been sexually assaulted by the resident physician who had examined her.”
The case was referred to the Special Victims Unit.
During the investigation, authorities identified a second adult female patient “who also reported being sexually assaulted by the same resident physician.”
MSU Police completed its criminal investigation and submitted the case to the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office on August 28, 2025. On September 3, 2026, prosecutors authorized a felony warrant charging Saxena with four total counts of criminal sexual conduct.
Authorities Are Asking Other Potential Victims to Come Forward
Authorities are specifically asking anyone who was a patient of Saxena between July 1, 2024, and April 7, 2025, to contact investigators if they experienced conduct that made them feel “uncomfortable, unsafe, or otherwise concerned.”
MSU Department of Police and Public Safety has established a dedicated hotline and email address for anyone who would like to reach them regarding this case. According to MSU Police, these contacts are available for anyone “who would like to come forward and file a police report, ask questions about available resources, or simply discuss options for support.”

Michigan State University’s Response
According to Public Safety Chief Mike Yankowski. “MSU Health Care is currently in the process of contacting all patients treated by Saxena during his employment.”
Following Saxena’s arrest, Michigan State University issued a statement, offering an apology to those affected and saying they were “deeply sorry for the harm this has caused.”
They also said that they took prompt action “to remove the individual from patient care and initiate the appropriate reporting processes.”
According to MSU, Saxena was removed from his role on April 7, four days after the original report, and was later dismissed from the university.
Who Is Dr. Arpit Saxena?
Dr. Arpit Saxena graduated from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2021, according to docinfo. Before joining Michigan State University, profiles associate him with Cahaba Medical Care and Bibb Medical Center in Alabama.
His Linkedin profile also identifies him as having worked as a tutor with Ace Med Boards.
Saxena is not currently listed as holding an active medical license in either Michigan or Alabama. Records indicate that his Michigan limited educational license as an osteopathic physician lapsed in June 2026.
