Who Is Michael Sullivan Nestor?
Before his arrest, Michael Sullivan Nestor, who goes by “Mike,” worked as a gymnastics coach at Go For It USA, a gymnastics facility for children ages 2-18.
According to his LinkedIn, Nestor began working for Go For It USA in November 2020.
First Allegation Against Michael Nestor
According to the arrest report, the allegations involve two young boys who separately accused Nestor of inappropriate touching while attending Go For It USA.
Investigators allege that one child was washing his hands in a restroom during a gymnastics camp on June 17 when Nestor gave him a lollipop.
While the child was eating the lollipop, Nestor allegedly squeezed and slapped the child’s buttocks over his clothing.
The child further alleged that after hiding inside a restroom stall, he struggled to later leave “because Nestor was blocking the stall door, according to the report. Nestor told him ‘please don’t go’ while he was blocking the door, the boy told police. The boy eventually pulled the door hard enough to escape the stall and ran from the restroom, police said.” (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
Second Allegation Against Michael Nestor
The arrest report states that the first child’s disclosure prompted another young gymnast to report a similar alleged incident that had occurred months earlier. According to investigators, the second child alleged that Nestor squeezed his buttocks while he was washing his hands in the restroom, making him feel uncomfortable. According to the report, Nestor did not stop when another person came into the bathroom.
The offense dates listed by court records include March 1, 2025, June 17, 2026, and June 29, 2026.
During a police interview, Nestor told investigators he had been experiencing stomach problems on June 17, and had entered the restroom several times. He said he brought a lollipop with him to settle his stomach but denied interacting with the child. When asked “if the two boys were lying about the allegations, Nestor said ‘I guess,’ adding, ‘I didn’t touch them.’” (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
Nestor is due in court on July 2, 2026, and is currently being held without bail.
Prior Incident Involving Michael Nestor
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “A 2021 child protective services report against Nestor alleged he had touched a friend’s genitals when he was 16, according to the report. Nestor told police the incident was ‘determined to be boys exploring.’”
Go For It USA’s Response
According to investigators, the gym’s general manager reviewed surveillance footage after the child’s mother raised concerns. The manager determined that the footage did not align with Nestor’s account of the incident.
According to the manager, when confronted, Nestor’s demeanor was a “pure panic attack.”
She placed him on leave pending an investigation, and Go For It USA ultimately terminated Nestor’s employment.
In a public statement, Go For It USA said, in part:
“Upon learning of the allegations, we immediately placed the employee on leave, reported to the appropriate authorities, including child protective services, alerted SafeSport, and retained an outside law firm to conduct an employment-related investigation. We have fully cooperated with law enforcement and will continue to do so. Based on the facts gathered by trained professionals, the arrested coach has been fired. We have zero tolerance for inappropriate, unsafe or abusive conduct. We are unwavering in our standard that everyone must act professionally and respectfully to provide our athletes with a safe and rewarding experience in the sport of gymnastics.”
The gym also stated that one-on-one or private communication between staff members and child athletes is strictly prohibited as part of its child safety policies.
Potential Civil Liability
The criminal case against Michael Sullivan Nestor will determine whether he is guilty of the charged offenses.
Civil investigations, however, examine whether individuals or organizations failed to take reasonable steps to protect children from foreseeable harm.
In cases involving youth sports organizations, a civil investigation may examine hiring and screening practices, staff supervision, enforcement of child safety policies, and reporting procedures.
Even when an organization responds quickly after allegations are reported, questions may remain about whether additional safeguards could have prevented the alleged abuse.
Youth-serving organizations may face civil liability if they fail to take reasonable steps to protect children, including ensuring adequate safeguards and supervision.
Civil lawsuits do not require a criminal conviction, and it can provide survivors a path to answers, accountability, and justice when systems fail them.
