Youth pastors should be trusted as mentors by the teens who look to them for guidance.
However, youth pastor Peter Green—who began working at Uniontown Bible Church in 2001—egregiously betrayed that trust.
Details of the Peter Green Lawsuit
Andreozzi + Foote recently filed a civil lawsuit in Carroll County Circuit Court against Uniontown Bible Church in Union Bridge, MD, and Peter Green, the church’s former youth pastor.
According to the suit, the victim, who was a minor, began attending the church in 2013. Green began grooming the victim almost immediately upon their first meeting. As part of his role, he regularly led unsupervised, overnight youth group retreats.
Green allegedly began sexually abusing the victim in 2014. Around April 2014, the victim was invited to move into Green’s home. The sexual abuse continued.
The lawsuit brings counts of assault and battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress against Green. It also alleges that Uniontown Bible Church failed to properly vet, remove, or oversee him—and is therefore liable alongside him.
Why Survivors Should Act Now
The Maryland Child Victims Act (2023) allows survivors of child sexual abuse to file civil cases regardless of when the abuse occurred.
Currently, survivors can recover up to $890,000 from public institutions and $1.5 million from private institutions for non‑economic harm like pain and suffering. Beginning June 1, 2025, however, those limits drop to $400,000 from public institutions and $700,000 from private institutions.
Therefore, filing a suit before June 1st helps ensure survivors can access full financial support for therapy, medical care, and more.
