Eight women have filed a lawsuit against Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC and psychiatrist Andrew L. Sorial, alleging that Sorial sexually exploited female patients during virtual psychiatric appointments.

The complaint, filed September 1, 2026, in Palm Beach County, Florida, alleges that Sorial abused his authority and exploited the psychiatrist-patient relationship for sexualized purposes unrelated to treatment. The women allege a pattern of conduct that included requests for revealing or nude photographs and demands that they display portions of their bodies during telehealth appointments.

The lawsuit alleges that Boca Raton Psychiatry knew or should have known that Sorial posed a danger to female patients and failed to take reasonable measures to protect them.

Andreozzi + Foote, together with Horowitz Law, represents the eight women.

Florida Surgeon General Suspended Sorial’s Medical License

The lawsuit follows disciplinary action against Sorial.

According to the complaint, the Florida Surgeon General issued an Emergency Order on January 21, 2026, suspending Sorial’s license to practice medicine in Florida based on allegations that he abused his position of trust and authority over female psychiatric patients.

The allegations underlying the suspension included demands to see photographs of female patients in revealing clothing and inappropriate focus on patients’ bodies and breasts during psychiatric appointments without a legitimate medical purpose.

Eight Women Allege Sexual Misconduct & Exploitation During Telehealth Appointments

The lawsuit describes allegations in which Sorial focused on female patients’ bodies and pressured them to wear revealing clothing, including bikinis, expose portions of their bodies on camera, or provide nude photographs.

One woman, for example, alleges Sorial directed her to wear tight workout clothing during sessions so he could “see her body better” and later directed her to appear in a bathing suit during an appointment. In December 2024, he allegedly requested weekly photographs of her collarbones and hip bones. He also allegedly requested nude photographs of her breasts.

According to the complaint, the woman did not comply, ceased contact with Sorial after this appointment, and terminated her care at Boca Raton Psychiatry. The suit says that she reported Sorial’s conduct to both the Florida Department of Health and the Palm Beach Police Department.

Another woman alleges Sorial instructed her to position her phone so he could see her entire body, pull down the waistband of her leggings, and expose portions of her breast.

According to the lawsuit, Sorial informed one patient that she was required to wear a bikini and use a tape measure to show him her body at every virtual session, or he would effectively retaliate against her by cutting her off from medications that she was being prescribed.

Patient Says She Reported Sorial to Boca Raton Psychiatry

The complaint alleges that Sorial sent one patient “sexual memes” by text, communicated with her on a personal and familiar basis, and told her that he considered her more than a patient and considered her a friend.

Allegedly, on October 4, 2024, Sorial asked the patient to send him intimate photographs. According to the suit, after she created a shared album containing approximately 60 photos, Sorial texted her almost daily about the images and left comments on several of them.

According to the complaint, in early 2025, the woman called Boca Raton Psychiatry on multiple occasions to report that Sorial was pressuring her to share inappropriate photographs with him.

Lawsuit Alleges Boca Raton Psychiatry Failed to Protect Patients

The lawsuit alleges Boca Raton Psychiatry knew or should have known that Sorial crossed personal boundaries with women, had received complaints from female clients, and was a threat to the safety and welfare of female patients entrusted to his care.

The lawsuit alleges that the practice, Boca Raton pPsychiatry, failed to protect the women from sexual misconduct by Sorial.

What Claims Are Included in the Sorial Lawsuit?

The women assert claims against Boca Raton Psychiatry for vicarious liability and negligent retention and supervision, and against Sorial for intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of fiduciary duty.

The women seek compensatory damages for alleged psychological and emotional injuries and have demanded a jury trial.
